All the information you need to know about the CAF Confederations Cup

The CAF Confederation Cup also referred to as the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup for sponsorship reasons is a yearly football club competition that was created in 2004 as a result of the merger of the CAF Cup and the African Cup Winners' Cup and is run by CAF. The performance of the clubs in their national leagues and cup competitions determines how they qualify for the competition. Below the CAF Champions League, it is the second-tier African club football competition. The winner of the tournament plays the winner of the CAF Champions League competition in the CAF Super Cup the following season. The competition consists of the third-placed football club in the domestic leagues. There are two phases to the competition: the qualification phase and the main phase.

The preliminary round and first qualifying round of the competition are played in a "trim-down" knockout style with the away goals rule acting as tiebreakers. The sixteen teams from the CAF Champions League's first qualifying round who were eliminated advance to the second qualifying round of this competition. The sixteen winning teams from the second qualifying round enter the group stage divided into four groups of four. In a round-robin format, each team will compete against the other three opponents; a victory requires three points.

The group's top two finishers go to a two-legged, home-and-away, three-round knockout phase that will be played in two matches (quarter-finals, semi-finals and the finals).

The side scoring the most away goals will be deemed the winner if the total number of goals scored throughout the two games is equal. Kicks from the penalty spot will be taken if the number of goals scored in the away games is tied.
